The sterilization device comprises at least one first electron beam emitter (10) adapted for sterilization of at least the interior of the packaging container (12) and at least one electron beam emitter (36) adapted for sterilization of at least the exterior of said packaging container (12). The sterilization device further comprises a sensor for measuring any dose control parameters of the first electron beam emitters, provided in a position (80). The invention further comprises a method for sterilizing packaging containers.
