A method is described to treat chronic pain syndromes by treating extracorporeally a patients cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). A patients CSF is treated extracorporeally using a moiety that targets an antigen in the CSF. This moiety facilitates removal of the CSF antigen. The cleansed CSF is then returned to the patient.
