Provided are: a calibration method that can set the conditions of color correction processing by means of a simple preparation/operation like that of white balance adjustment, and that is capable of color correction at the same precision as when a plurality of color charts are used and an endoscope system. A plurality of LEDs are lit, and a plurality of illumination light of different wavelength bands is emitted at a specific light intensity ratio. As a result of the light emission, color-chart-corresponding colored light is generated corresponding to the colors of color charts. A white subject area (WST) is illuminated by the color-chart-corresponding colored light. The white subject area (WST) is imaged by an imaging sensor, and an RGB image signal of the white subject area is acquired. The conditions of color correction processing for matching the colors of endoscope images to standard colors are set on the basis of the RGB image signal of the white subject area.
