A method of making a dental crown or bridge restoration (5) comprises forming a precursor crown (5) outside of a patients mouth with a first restorative material (6), with a buccal contour on the buccal wall substantially the same as a buccal contour on a final crown restoration, and an open space (9, 10) on or around at least one of the mesial side wall (11) or the distal side wall (12) and filling and securing a second material (7), different from the first restorative material, inside the open space of the precursor crown while outside the patients mouth, and with the precursor crown having a strength substantially equivalent to the final crown restoration, and with the buccal contour being substantially the same as the buccal contour on the final crown, prior to filling and securing the second material.Linvention concerne un procédé de fabrication dune restauration de couronne ou bridge dentaire (5), qui comprend la formation dune couronne de précurseur (5) à lextérieur de la bouche dun patient à laide dun premier matériau de restauration (6), un contour buccal sur la paroi buccale étant sensiblement le même quun contour buccal sur une restauration de couronne finale, et un espace ouvert (9, 10) sur ou autour dau moins une de la paroi latérale mésiale (11) ou de la paroi latérale distale (12) et le remplissage et la fixation dun second matériau (7), différent du premier matériau de restauration, à lintérieur de lespace ouvert de la couronne de précurseur tout en étant à lextérieur de la bouche du patient, et la couronne de précurseur ayant une résistance sensiblement équivalente à la restauration de couronne finale, et le contour buccal étant sensiblement le même que le contour buccal sur la couronne finale, avant le remplissage et la fixation du second matériau.
