The jig comprises a curved guide arm, and a more rigid second arm, said arms being biased apart from one another, and the guide arm having a smaller radius of curvature that the intramedullary nail. Alignment adjustment means alter the curve of the guide arm until the guide holes for the transverse pins are aligned with the distal end of the intramedullary implant. The guide portion may have radiopaque markings such that the alignment may be checked by X-ray means.
