PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and method that can automatically perform shellfish mounting work, punching work and pin-inserting work in a series.SOLUTION: A shellfish mounting method is a method of mounting shellfish 3 to a pin 2 inserted in a vertical rope 1. The method includes a punching step, a pin inserting step, a rope feed step, a pin holding step, an alignment step, a guide penetration step, a connecting step, a pin transfer step and a pin drawing step. A shellfish mounting apparatus includes a punching part, an inserting part of the pin 2, a rope feed part 34, a holding part of the pin 2, a guide inserting part, a connection part and a transfer part. The method is configured such that the pin 2 and the holes of two shellfish 3 disposed outside the pin 2 are arranged to one line, two guides are penetrated into the holes of the shellfish, the tip part of the guide projecting from hole is connected to the tip part of the pin 2, and the shellfish 3 is made to slide to the inside the shellfish stopping projection of the pin 2 along the guide to be transferred from the guide to the pin 2.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
