A method of manufacturing a catheter assembly, the method comprising: providing a catheter adapter (130) having a proximal opening (150), a distal opening (152) and a cavity (134) therebetween; coupling a catheter (136) into the distal opening (152) of the catheter adapter (130), the catheter (136) and the cavity (134) being in fluid communication; inserting a partition (140) into the cavity (134), whereby the partition (140) divides the cavity (134) into a front chamber (142) and a rear chamber (144); insert a partition actuator (120) into the catheter adapter (130); advance the partition actuator (120) through the partition (140), thus providing a penetration path between the front chamber (142) and the rear chamber (144), the partition actuator (120) being centered approximately coaxially inside the catheter adapter (130); characterized in that the method further comprises providing a clamp (20) that adopts an open position, a closed position and an intermediate position, the clamp (20) also having an inner surface (38) for gripping a needle (110) and a surface exterior (36) for selectively contacting an interior surface of the partition actuator (120); grasping the needle (110) with the inner surface (38) of the clamp (20) by arranging the clamp (20) in the closed position; advance the needle (110) and the clamp (20) to the proximal opening (150) of the catheter adapter (130) in a distal direction, such that the clamp (20) and the needle (110) are centered approximately coaxially within the partition actuator (120), and such that a bevelled end (112) of the needle (110) is placed in the front chamber (142); change the arrangement of the clamp (20) to the open position, so that the inner surface (38) of the clamp (20) releases the needle (110) and the outer surface (36) of the clamp (20) makes contact with the inner surface of the partition actuator (120); remove the clamp (20) and the partition actuator (120) according to a proximal direction, so that the partit
