The present invention relates to solid dispersions including, but not limitedto, co-processed carbohydrates withdifferent solubilities and concentrations, which have a microcrystalline platestructure. The solid dispersions, excipient systemsand formulations of the present invention are highly compactable and durableand when compressed into solid dosage formsdemonstrate uniform densification, low friability at low pressures, and and/orrelatively constant low disintegration times at varioushardnesses. The solid dosage forms of the present invention demonstratesuperior organoleptics, disintegration, and/or robustness.
