A lawn tool comprises a handle 5 and a tubular portion 1 extending from the handle. The tubular portion includes an axially extending opening 7 in the wall thereof and a tip 3 at the free end of the tubular portion to facilitate insertion of the tubular portion into a lawn. The opening is open at an end thereof remote from the handle. The opening may lie in a plane which has parallel edges 9, 11 and the opening may extend along part only of the axial length of the tubular portion. The tip may be curved in the axial direction of the tubular portion. The handle may have a greater diameter than the tubular portion and may have a domed head and part of the handle adjoining the tubular portion may be formed with an undercut which may have a concave profile
