The present subject matter relates to an extraneous light blocking apparatus (100,300), which may be adapted to be worn by a user to prevent extraneous light reaching the eyes while capturing fundus images. The extraneous light blocking apparatus (100,300) comprises a frame (105,305) having one or more front portions (106,115,315), a pair of sidewalls (125,330), one or more shutters (110, 310) and a pair of eye openings (120, 335). In an embodiment, a shutter (110) is detachably fixed to the frame (105) to close an eye opening of the pair of eye openings (120) and to create dark environment in front of an eye facing the shutter (110) while imaging retina of other eye through another eye opening of the pair of eye openings (120). The shutter (110) comprises an aperture (205) to adjust fixation of the eyes of the user for imaging different segments of the retina. [To be published with Fig. la]
