The present invention relates to a method for producing cartilage tissue by selecting from chondrocytes or spheroids, and its use as a pharmaceutical composition, pharmaceutical or implant. In particular, the present invention relates to markers specifically for identifying suitable chondrocytes for producing cartilage tissue for transplantation.
