PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for detecting viral infection in an animal tissue sample, a method for determining resistance of a subject animal to viral infection, and a method for selecting animals having resistance to viral infection and mating these to generate offspring.SOLUTION: Provided is a method comprising preparing a tissue sample obtained from a live subject animal, contacting the tissue sample with a virus, incubating the tissue sample for time sufficient for viral replication, and detecting the presence or absence of the virus in the tissue sample by real-time PCR.
