Abstract: Patent 590302 Disclosed herein are salts and polymorphs of desazadesferrithiocin polyether (DADFT-PE) compounds of formula II, wherein the substituents are as defined in the specification, processes for their preparation, solid compositions comprising said compounds and uses thereof. Said compounds are useful as metal chelation agents and as such are useful for the treatment of a pathological condition responsive to chelation, sequestration or elimination of metal in a subject, in particular iron overload, atransferrinemia, aceruloplasminemia, and Fredreichs ataxia, betathalassemia major and intermedia, sickle cell anemia, Diamond-Blackfan anemia, sideroblastic anemia, chronic hemolytic anemias, off-therapy leukemias, bone marrow transplant and myelodysplastic syndrome.
