The ultrasound imaging apparatus includes a probe (150) to radiate light when stress is applied and when stress is not applied to the subject, and to receive a corresponding first acoustic wave signal and a second acoustic wave signal, a data acquisition unit (170) to acquire first acoustic wave data and second acoustic wave data that each represent optical absorption rate information about the subject, an elasticity information generating unit (160) to calculate elasticity information about the subject, an image generating unit (180) to generate a single image having both of the optical absorption rate information and the calculated elasticity information, and a display unit (190) to display the generated image.
