Abstract This disclosure provides a novel strategy to cope with chronic virus infection by introducing a dominant negative viral structural protein to disturb effective virion production. The dominant negative structural protein mimics antiviral drugs through structural and biochemical interactions during virus assembly. An effective gene therapy model for chronic viral infected diseases is proposed in this disclosure, as represented by HBV Cpdominant1 to clear viral infection.Cette invention concerne une nouvelle stratégie pour lutter contre linfection virale chronique, ladite stratégie consistant à introduire une protéine structurale virale négative dominante pour perturber la production efficace des virions. La protéine structurale négative dominante imite les antiviraux par des interactions structurales et biochimiques pendant lassemblage du virus. Un modèle de thérapie génique efficace pour les maladies du type infection virale chronique, représenté par la protéine Cpdominant1 du VHB, est ainsi proposé pour éliminer linfection virale.
