The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition for treating cancer containing gossypol and phenformin as active ingredients. In particular, it was confirmed that the combination treatment with gossypol and phenformin has significantly higher anticancer activity than the treatment with gossypol and phenformin alone. Therefore, the pharmaceutical composition of the present invention containing gossypol and phenformin having synergistic anticancer activity can be preferably used for cancer treatment.
