PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a guide wire which is excellent in torque force, and at the same time, can prevent the plastic deformation of a core shaft from occurring.SOLUTION: The guide wire includes: the core shaft which includes a first leading end section and a first rear end section being located on the opposite side from the first leading end section and a coil body which includes a second leading end section and a second rear end section being located on the opposite side from the second leading end section, and is wound around the outer periphery of the first leading end section. The core shaft is constituted by including a first cylindrical section to which the second rear end section is fixed a second cylindrical section which is located closer to the first rear end section side than the first cylindrical section and a third cylindrical section which is located closer to the first rear end section side than the second cylindrical section. The outer diameter of the second cylindrical section is larger than the outer diameter of the first cylindrical section, and also, is smaller than the maximum diameter of the coil body.
