PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method which permit efficient sterilization even at the time of high-level operation.SOLUTION: A device 1 for sterilizing containers 10 includes: a treatment head 5 having an outlet window 8 where charge carriers pass through a charge carrier generation source for generating the charge carriers an acceleration device 6 disposed above the outlet window and for accelerating the charge carriers in a direction of the outlet window 8 and a cooling device 30 for cooling the outlet window.
