The present invention provides a method for the cosmetic treatment of human keratinous material comprising the steps which consist in: a) applying at least one cosmetic composition comprising a photochromic compound, to the human keratinous material, said photochromic compound comprising : • a photocleavable function, in particular chosen from carbamate, carbonate or ester functions, and • a chromophore precursor covalently bonded to said photocleavable function, b) irradiating the treated area with light radiation, in particular radiation having a wavelength between 280 and 450 nm, so as to photocleave the photochromic compound and produce a compound of different color.La présente invention concerne un procédé pour le traitement cosmétique dun matériau kératineux humain comprenant les étapes consistant à : a) appliquer au moins une composition cosmétique comprenant un composé photochromique, sur le matériau kératineux humain, ledit composé photochromique comprenant : • une fonction photoclivable, en particulier choisie parmi des fonctions carbamate, carbonate ou ester, et • un précurseur de chromophore lié de manière covalente à ladite fonction photoclivable, b) irradier la zone traitée avec un rayonnement lumineux, en particulier un rayonnement ayant une longueur donde comprise entre 280 et 450 nm, de façon à photocliver le composé photochromique et produire un composé dune couleur différente.
