PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medical apparatus having a plurality of stable configurations.SOLUTION: The medical apparatus having the plurality of stable configurations includes a plurality of cells 64 which are interconnected, each of the cells has a predetermined cell structure, and the cells include a relatively rigid segments 52 and 66 and a relatively flexible segments 54 and 68 interconnected so as to form the cell structure in the form of a multistable spring system having a plurality of stable configurations. The cell structure may be a bistable mechanism having two stable configurations and the cells may be formed and composed so that the apparatus can be switched between the two stable configurations by applying equal force directed in a radial direction.
