PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device that suppresses a photoacoustic wave from a nipple or a mole and successfully acquires photoacoustic waves from portions other than them in photoacoustic imaging.SOLUTION: A subject information acquisition device has: a support unit 9 that supports multiple emission units 6 for emitting light from a light source to a subject and also supports a probe 8 for receiving an acoustic wave transmitted from the subject exposed to the light； an emission control unit 12 that controls emission of the light from the respective emission units； a movement control unit 12 that moves a position of a support unit relative to the subject； an acquisition unit 12 that acquires information on a light intensity suppressing region of the subject； and an information processing unit 13 that generates characteristic information for the subject on the basis of the acoustic wave.
