The oil-in-water emulsified cosmetic composition is characterized by containing a zinc oxide powder (A) having an average particle diameter of 0.1 to 1 µm, an average particle thickness of 0.01 to 0.2 µm, and an average aspect ratio of 3 or more and a polymer (B) selected from the group consisting of a polyacrylamide compound, a polyacrylic acid, and salts thereof.本發明提供一種具有較高之紫外線防禦效果且經時穩定性、使用感優異之水中油型乳化化粧料。本發明之水中油型乳化化粧料之特徵在於含有:(A)平均粒徑為0.1~1 μm、平均粒子厚度為0.01~0.2 μm及平均板狀比為3以上之氧化鋅粉末;以及(B)選自聚丙烯醯胺化合物、聚丙烯酸及該等之鹽中之聚合物。
