PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide such a spool mounting/demounting mechanism for a fishing reel as can have its axial length reduced as much as possible.SOLUTION: A spool mounting/demounting mechanism 6 is enabled by a single action to mount and demount a spool 3 on and from a spool shaft 2. The spool mounting/demounting mechanism 6 includes a first bearing 4 as a projection portion, a mounting/demounting member 30, a biasing member 32, and a lid member 34 as a positioning member. The first bearing 4 includes a first side face 4c and a second side face 4d. The mounting/demounting member 30 includes a regulation portion 40 and a pressing operation portion 42. The regulation portion 40 is opposed to the second side face 4d. The mounting/demounting member 30 is enabled to move radially to a regulated position, at which the regulation portion 40 faces the second side face 4d, and to a separated position, at which the same leaves the first bearing 4. The biasing member 32 urges the mounting/demounting member 30 toward the regulated position.
