The present invention notably relates to a protein or a polypeptide, characterized in that it corresponds to an amino acid sequence, comprising or being constituted by: a sequence corresponding to SEQ ID NO:2(Syncitin 2), or a sequence derived from SEQ ID NO:2 by insertion, deletion or substitution of at least one amino acid, provided that the protein or the polypeptide corresponding to said derived sequence presents a fusogenic activity similar to that of Syncitin 2 and/or an antigenic activity similar to that of Syncitin 2, or a homologous sequence presenting at least 85% amino acid identity with SEQ ID NO:2, provided that the protein or the polypeptide corresponding to said homologous sequence presents a fusogenic activity similar to that of Syncitin 2, and/or an immunosuppressive activity similar to that of Syncitin 2 and/or an antigenic activity similar to that of Syncitin 2.Cette invention concerne principalement une protéine ou un polypeptide, qui se caractérise en ce quelle ou il correspond à une séquence dacides aminés, et qui comprend ou qui est constitué : dune séquence correspondant à SEQ ID NO:2 (Syncitine 2) ou dune séquence dérivée de SEQ ID NO:2 par insertion, délétion ou substitution dau moins un acide aminé, à condition que la protéine ou le polypeptide correspondant à cette séquence dérivée présente une activité fusogène semblable à celle de la Syncitine 2 et/ou une activité immunosuppressive semblable à celle de la Syncitine 2 et/ou une activité antigénique semblable à celle de la Syncitine 2 ou dune séquence homologue présentant une homologie dacides aminés dau moins 85 % avec SEQ ID NO:2, à condition que la protéine ou le polypeptide correspondant à cette séquence homologue présente une activité fusogène semblable à celle de la Syncitine 2 et/ou une activité immunosuppressive semblable à celle de la Syncitine 2 et/ou une activité antigénique semblable à celle de la Syncitine 2.
