PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a retort sterilizing apparatus improving the efficiency of treatment of a material to be treated.SOLUTION: A heating medium jet nozzle 14 jets a heating medium 34 stored in a storing part 1202 to the material to be treated stored in a containing part 1204. A heating medium circulating circuit 16 supplies the heating medium 34 stored in the storing part 1202 to the heating medium jet nozzle 14, and jets the heating medium 34 from the heating medium nozzle 14 to the material to be treated contained in the containing part 1204. Heating medium heating means 20 heats the heating medium 34 circulated by the heating medium circulating circuit 16 by high temperature steam. A high temperature side heating medium tank 22 stores the heating medium 34 preliminarily heated by a heat pump 26. A low temperature side heating medium tank 24 stores the heating medium 34 cooled by the heat pump 26.
