Cardiac pumps and assist systems are provided that increase blood release from a compromised heart. Implantable heart pumps that act as ancillary devices have attachment systems and positioning features that allow a minimally invasive procedure for implanting and deploying one or more aortic blood pumps in a patient. The heart pump can be replaced without surgery. Monitoring of heart pump operation allows replacement prior to chamber failure.
