Disclosed herein are methods of administering an agent targeting a lineage-specific cell- surface antigen, e.g., CD33, and a population of hematopoietic cells that are deficient in the lineage-specific cell-surface antigen, e.g., CD33 for immunotherapy of hematological malignancies.
