The present invention relates to a novel feline paramyxovirus. The paramyxovirus of the present invention is a (−) ssRNA virus, which in one aspect has a genome complementary to the nucleic acid set forth in SEQ ID NO: 1 or SEQ ID NO: 8. The invention further relates to corresponding nucleic acids and polypeptides, antibodies and vaccines.
