An egg inspecting device (1) is provided with a plurality of radiating units (2, 3), image capturing units (4, 5) and a determining unit (10). The plurality of radiating units (2, 3) radiate light, with a plurality of eggs (E) arranged in a matrix formation divided into a plurality of groups including one group (A) and another group (B) which are adjacent to one another. The image capturing units (4, 5) capture images of the eggs radiated with the light, and the determining unit (10) determines a surface condition of the eggs (E). Light is radiated from one radiating unit (2), from among the plurality of radiating units (2, 3), toward one egg (E) positioned in one group (A). Light is radiated from another radiating unit (3), from among the plurality of radiating units (2, 3), toward another egg (E) positioned in another group (B). In a state in which one radiating unit (2) is lit, the other radiating unit (3) is extinguished.
