The present invention generally relates to an novel injectable particle composition essentially consisting of: (a) a population of domains, wherein each domain essentially consists of a drug matrix and a population of subdomains, wherein the subdomains are evenly distributed in the drug matrix, wherein each subdomain essentially consists of an ionizable excipient, and (b) a rate controlling matrix comprising a biocompatible polymer and optionally an excipient.
