Disclosed is a gate for an electric fence and a method of forming a push-through opening in an electric fence. The disclosure notes that current &ldquopush past&rdquo gate designs include wooden posts and a lot of work is required to divert the current across the gap in the fence. The gate includes a U-shaped frame (12), an insulating sleeve (20) and one or more flexible arms (30). The U-shaped frame (12) includes two sections (14a, 14b) which in use are upright. Each section (14a, 14b) is connected to an end of a section (15) which is horizontal in use. The insulating sleeve (20) is disposed around the exterior of the horizontal section (15). Each of the one or more flexible arms (30) is attached to an upright section (14a, 14b) and extend towards the opposite upright section (14a, 14b). The frame (12) and each flexible arm (30) are electrically conductive.
