The present invention relates to a composition for reinforcing the skin barrier, which contains a Nelumbo nucifera callus extract, or a mixture of the Nelumbo nucifera callus extract and a machilia extract. The Nelumbo nucifera callus extract and the machilia extract promote the synthesis of claudin-1 and claudin-4, which constitute tight junctions of the keratinocyte layer, and thus is effective in strengthening the skin barrier damaged by external factors. When the Nelumbo nucifera callus extract and the machilia extract are used after being mixed at a predetermined ratio, a synergistic effect on strengthening the skin barrier by promoting the synthesis of claudin-1 and claudin-4, respectively, can be exhibited more than when using each of the same alone.본 발명은 연 캘러스 추출물 또는, 연 캘러스 추출물 및 후박 추출물의 혼합물을 포함하여 피부장벽을 강화시키는 조성물에 관한 것으로서, 본 발명의 연 캘러스 추출물 및 후박 추출물은 각질세포층 타이트정션을 구성하는 클라우딘-1과 클라우딘-4의 합성을 촉진하여 외부 인자에 의해 손상된 피부장벽 강화에 효과적이며, 연 캘러스 및 후박 추출물을 일정 비율로 혼합하여 사용하는 경우 단독으로 각각 사용하는 경우보다 클라우딘-1과 클라우딘-4의 합성 촉진을 통한 피부장벽강화에 시너지 효과가 있다.
