The device (1) has a holding unit for receiving an ossicle prosthesis (2) and for holding the prosthesis in such a way that the prosthesis is inhibited from being dropped out during transport of the prosthesis to a surgeon. Placeholder-pins (9a) are insertable into the holding unit or integrated in the holding unit. The placeholder-pins are formed such that the placeholder-pins fix parts of the prosthesis during transport of the prosthesis to the surgeon in a desired geometry. The parts of the prosthesis are thermally treated and are made of material with shape memory.
