A shredding flail (10) applicable to a rotor (11) of a machine for shredding plant material, as grass, fibrous or woody plants, shrubs, prunings and the like； the flail has a flail body comprising a transversely extended blade portion (12) for shredding the material and an elongate shank portion (14) for articulated connection to the rotor (11). The front face (10a) of the flail is provided with a protuberance (22) which defines an extended surface (22a) for striking the peripheral surface (15) of the rotor (11) shaft (13). [Figure 2]
