The invention relates to an analysis method for determining afunctional parameter of an organ of a human or animalindividual by measuring the 13CO2 content in the air exhaled bythe individual to which a substrate has been administered thereaction of which in the body of the individual enriches theair exhaled by the individual with 13CO2. The method ischaracterized in that the maximum reaction rate of thesubstrate in the body of the individual is determined via achange of the measured 13CO2 content in the air exhaled by theindividual using zero-order enzyme kinetics. The inventionalso relates to an aqueous methacetin solution for use in saidanalysis method, the pH of the solution being greater 7Ø Theinvention also relates to a diagnostic method for determiningthe functional parameters of an organ of a human or animalindividual.
