The present invention relates to a bio-derived cholesteric liquid crystal, a capsule for sunblock containing the same, a composition for sunblock, and a manufacturing method thereof. According to the present invention, since the composition contains the bio-derived cholesteric liquid crystal as an effective component, the composition has excellent biostability as well as maintaining transparency, and selectively controls the reflected wavelength by additionally containing a chiral dopant. Since the composition is manufactured as a capsule, the present invention is capable of enhancing mechanical stability and maintaining a sunblock effect even after becoming a capsule, thereby overcoming problems about contact dermatitis, accumulation in a human body, and appearance, which exists with sunblock.본 발명은 생체 유래 콜레스테릭 액정, 이를 함유하는 자외선 차단제용 캡슐, 자외선 차단제용 조성물 및 이의 제조방법에 관한 것으로, 본 발명에 따른 자외선 차단제용 조성물은 생체 유래 콜레스테릭 액정을 유효성분으로 함유하고 있어, 생체 안정성이 우수할 뿐 아니라, 투명성을 유지할 수 있고, 키랄 도펀트를 추가로 함유하여 반사되는 파장을 선택적으로 조절할 수 있는 특징이 있다. 또한, 상기 자외선 차단제용 조성물을 캡슐로 제조하여 사용함으로써, 기계적 안정성을 높일 수 있고, 캡슐로 제조된 후에도 자외선 차단 효과를 유지할 수 있음이 확인되어, 본 발명에 따른 자외선 차단제용 캡슐은 종래의 자외선 차단제의 문제점으로 지적되었던 접촉성 피부염, 체내 축적 및 미관상의 문제점을 극복할 수 있는 유용한 효과가 있다.
