The invention relates to a device for dispensing bark beetle pheromone in acontrolled manner. Said device consists of a plastic container comprising oneor more sealed chambers, each containing a liquid pheromone that is composedof 2-ethyl-1,6-dioxaspiro[4,4]nonane, 2,4-decadiene carboxylic acid methylester and at least one alcohol selected from 2-methyl but-3-en-2-ol and 2-methylbut-3-in-2-ol, at least 50 % of the surface of the walls that form thechambers having a wall thickness ranging between 0.1 and 1 mm. At least saidsurfaces consist of a plastic material that is an uncoated vinyl acetateethylene copolymer with a vinyl acetate content ranging between 10 and 17 wt.%. The invention also relates to a method for combating and controlling theswarming behaviour of the species Pityogenes chalcographus, which is alsoknown as the six-toothed spruce bark beetle.
