Dargestellt und beschrieben ist ein Verfahren zur Behandlung von offenen Schnittkanten (S) eines Packungsmantels, Zuschnitts oder einer zu einer Rolle aufgerollten Bahnware eines Verpackungsmaterials, insbesondere Karton/Kunststoff-Verbundmaterials, durch Aufbringen bzw. Einbringen eines ein Entkeimungsmittel aufweisenden Behandlungsmittels auf bzw. in den äußeren Bereich der Schnittkanten (S). Um eine besonders Ressourcen schonende Verbundverpackung und ein dazu nötiges Herstellungsverfahren bereit zu stellen, wird vorgeschlagen, dass wenigstens ein Teil des Behandlungsmittels nicht unmittelbar auf die Schnittkanten (S) aufgebracht wird, sondern dass eine Beladung eines Beladungsträgers (9) erfolgt, welcher das Behandlungsmittel aufnimmt, so dass eine sich einstellende aktiv sterilisierende Atmosphäre anschließend auf die offenen Schnittkanten (S) des Packungsmantels, Zuschnitts oder der Bahnware einwirkt und die gewünschte Sterilisation vornimmt.
