A system and method are presented for determining a quality measure of a plant material. The system comprises: an optical inspection unit configured and operable for applying optical inspection to at least one region of the plant material and generating measured image data and spectroscopic data of said at least one region of the plant material; and a control unit comprising an analyzer utility configured and operable for receiving the measured image data and the measured spectroscopic data of the at least one region of the plant material, analyzing the measured image data to determine at least one structural parameter of the plant material, determining one or more quality measures of the plant material based on a relation between the measured spectroscopic data and said at least one structural parameter, and generating data indicative of said one or more quality measures of the plant material.
