A medical system (1) includes a capsule type medical apparatus (1) and an external machine 30). The capsule type medical apparatus (1) is introduced into a subject (100) and includes an antenna (14a) which outputs a radio wave at least one of horizontal polarized wave and vertical polarized wave of which has directionality and a communication unit (14) which executes a communication through the antenna (14a). The external machine (30) includes an external antenna (20) which is disposed outside of the subject (100), includes dipole antennas (21a, 21b), and has a plurality of different planes of polarization an antenna changeover switch (311) which selects any of the planes of polarization and a transmission circuit (32) and/or a receiving circuit (33) that communicates which execute a communication with the capsule type medical apparatus (10) through the external antenna (20) whose plane of polarization is selected by the antenna changeover switch (311).
