An artificial valve including a plurality of leaflets is provided. An artificial valve (100) including a plurality of leaflets (130), each leaflet having a first leaflet side region and a leaflet opposite the first leaflet first side region. Each leaflet defines a leaflet base (134) and a leaflet free end (142) opposite the leaflet base, and defines a respective leaflet first side. The leaflet region is connected to the leaflet second side region of the adjacent leaflet at a seam (136), wherein each leaflet base of the plurality of leaflets together defines an opening, and the leaflet first side. An artificial valve, wherein at least a first portion of the partial region has a first thickness, a second side region has a second thickness, and the first thickness is greater than the second thickness. The leaflet second side region of the leaflet moves first toward the open position before the leaflet first side region, and the leaflet first side region moves in front of the leaflet second side region. These leaflets move asymmetrically in that they move first toward the closed position.
