PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a regulatory particle for immunotherapy. A nanoparticle composition is disclosed. Nanoparticle compositions typically include at least one, preferably two or more active agents, one of which is loaded into the delivery vehicle and bound to its surface. And/or an immunomodulatory compound encapsulated therein. The delivery vehicle can be a biodegradable polymer nanoparticle such as a nanolipogel or PLGA nanoparticle that includes a polymer core and a lipid shell. Typically, at least one of the active agents is an immunomodulatory agent that increases an immunostimulatory response or decreases an immunosuppressive response. In some embodiments, particles include both an immunomodulatory agent that increases an immunostimulatory response and an immunomodulatory agent that decreases an immunosuppressive response. The particles can be decorated with targeting moieties that improve delivery to target cells.
