The present invention relates to a medicament delivery device comprising a housing (10, 12), a compartment (102) inside said housing for positioning a medicament container (70), an injection needle (184) arranged to said housing, being connectable to said medicament container (70) for delivering a dose of medicament, a manually operated activation mechanism (129) for activating said device, an actuation mechanism (165) operably connected to said activation mechanism (129) and arranged to, upon activation of said activation mechanism (129), extend said injection needle (184) from a first position inside said housing to a second position wherein a penetration of a patient is performed, a plunger rod (66) arranged in said housing capable of acting on said medicament container (70) for delivering a dose of medicament through said injection needle (184), a driver (50) capable of acting on said plunger rod (66) for delivering a dose of medicament. The invention is characterised in that said device comprises a needle cover (188) operably arranged in said housing from a first position inside said housing to a second extended position outside said housing for shielding said injection needle (184) when said injection needle (184) is in said second position.
