The present invention relates to a method for suppressing metabolic syndrome through low temperature exposure for a long time. The method can improve the survival rate of mammals and fish except for humans, suppresses weight gain, can reduce the concentration of cholesterol and neutral fat, and can suppress the size and differentiation of fat cells, thereby being able to be helpfully used as the method for suppressing metabolic syndrome of the mammals and fish except for humans. In addition, the method can reduce the formation of melanin through low temperature exposure for a long time, thereby being able to be helpfully used as a skin whitening method. A pharmaceutical composition for preventing or treating metabolic syndrome contains a hypothermia inducing agent as an active ingredient.본 발명은 장기간 저온 노출을 통한 대사증후군 억제 방법에 관한 것으로, 장기간 저온 노출을 통해 인간을 제외한 포유동물과 어류의 생존율을 향상시킬 수 있으며, 체중 증가를 억제하고, 콜레스테를 및 중성지방의 농도를 감소시킬 수 있으며, 지방세포의 크기 및 분화를 억제할 수 있어, 인간을 제외한 포유동물과 어류의 대사증후군 억제방법으로 유용하게 사용될 수 있다. 또한 장기간 저온 노출을 통해 멜라닌의 형성도 감소시킬 수 있어 피부 미백 방법으로 유용하게 사용될 수 있다.
