A fibrous web containing a composition capable to attract and trap negativelycharged matter, such as bacteria and other pathogens, is generally disclosed.The bacteriostatic composition can be a multivalently charged metal ion, suchas an aluminum cation, ligated to at least one surfactant. The surfactant canbe an anionic surfactant, such as an alkyl sulfate. Also, methods of forming afibrous web capable of trapping negatively charged matter is generally provided.
