The present disclosure relates to a medication adherence administration andmonitoringsystem. An apparatus for managing medication adherence by a patient isprovided, theapparatus comprising: a dispensing device configured for communication with amedication administration system, the dispensing device designed fordispensingmedication stored within the dispensing device to the patient； a controlsystem forcontrolling the dispensing device based, at least in part, on commandinstructions providedby the medication administration system, and issuing commands to dispensemedicationbased on the satisfaction of one or more pre-determined conditions provided bythemedication administration system； and an alert system configured for alertingthe patientwhen medication should be dispensed and configured to receive an indicationfrom thepatient verifying the consumption of medication, the alert systemcommunicating to thecontrol system that the medication has been dispensed and consumed.
