PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide multi-coils and an MR device using them that irradiates high-frequency electric waves on a subject and detects a high-frequency signal from him/her, as well as an RF transmission and reception method.

SOLUTION: Multi-coils 20 have a plurality of partial coils 22 (22A, 22B, 22C) axially divided so that they enclose different positions of a subjects body. The partial coils are circumferentially arranged at intervals of some distance. Each coil comprises a plurality of axially long fine elements 23. Each coil element has both its ends axially placed on top of both the ends of other adjacent partial coil elements and is circumferentially spaced from one another in a hounds tooth check. Only part of the subjects body is irradiated with high-frequency electric waves by tuning a single or part of partial coils 22, with other partial coils left not tuned, and a high-frequency signal is detected from this or these partial coils 22.
