PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a subject information acquisition device capable of improving the accuracy of calibration by reducing an impact of an artifact in an image acquired with the use of a phantom for calibration.SOLUTION: A subject information acquisition device that performs calibration with the use of a phantom having a base material 11, an absorber 12 arranged inside the base material 11, and an identification tag 13 having the information on a surface shape of the phantom includes a probe for receiving an acoustic wave and outputting an electric signal, reading means for reading the information from the identification tag 13, processing means for acquiring the characteristic information on the inside of the subject using the electric signal output by the probe that receives an acoustic wave propagated from the subject, and output means for outputting the information necessary for the calibration performed with the use of the information that the reading means reads from the identification tag 13.
