The present invention provides a composition for enhancing memory and mitigating neurodegeneration comprising an effective amount of a Ludwigia octovalvis extract. Also disclosed is a method thereof for enhancing memory and mitigating neurodegeneration comprising administering to a subject in need thereof an effective amount of a Ludwigia octovalvis extract. The composition and method of the present invention is useful in treating Alzheimers disease.
