This invention discloses a disposable handheld dental instrument. The handheld dental instrument comprises a body, a counterweight disposed in the body, and at least a tool. A part of the tool is disposed in the body, and the tool is still partially exposed from the body. The exposed part of the tool comprises a real tool used by a dentist when practicing treatment. A threaded body cover is matched up with the thread on the body, enabling the body cover to be screwed in the body to secure the counterweight. The handheld dental instrument further comprises a use indicator for indicating whether the dental instrument has been used or not.
